Impressive performances at County Junior and Master Road races

The Club hosted the County Junior and Masters Road Championships in Clerihan and the Club would like to thank everyone who helped to ensure their success. Thanks also to the Red Cross for looking after First Aid.

In the Junior Men 3k race Conor Flaherty ran very well when finishing 4th in 10 mins 19 secs. In the men over 65 3k race we also saw some great performances like Noel Howley winning the over 70 title impressively in 14 mins 2 secs. Then we had Myles McHugh running well when winning the over 75 title in 17 mins 58 secs. Eamon Crowley must also be very pleased with his performance when winning the over 70 bronze medal in 20 mins 45 secs, it is great to see Eamonn back running well again after a recent injury. These three athletes combined very well to win the Inter Club silver medals.

In the Master women’s 6k race we also saw some great performances. Angela McCann underlined her good form when winning the over 50 title in 23 mins 1 secs. Then we had Anne Marie Halpin also running a great race when winning the over 45 title impressively in 24 mins 58 secs. Anna Byrne also ran very well when winning the over 55 title in 27 mins 18 secs. Then we had Sareen Walsh winning the over 45 silver medal in 27 mins 54 secs. Anne Marie Lowes, making her Club debut also ran very well when finishing 4th over 45 in 28 mins 59 secs. Stephanie Byrne won her first County title when winning the 0/35 title in 31 mins 14 secs. In the over 45 team event our team of Angela McCann, Anne Marie Halpin and Anna Byrne won the gold medals.

In the Master men 6k race we also saw some great performances. None more so than Paul Minogue who ran a great race when winning the 0/35 title in 19 mins 39 secs. Then we had Joey Feery running well when finishing 11th in 22 mins 5 secs. The Club would like to wish Joey the very best of luck on his big day next weekend. Then we had Conor Fleming making a welcome return to competition a good one when winning the 0/50 silver medal in 22 mins 55 secs. We also had good performances from members like Eelco Beckers 26th in 23 mins 27secs, Anthony Power 32nd in 24 mins 9 secs, Niall O Ceallaigh 33rd in 24 mins 14 secs, Bernard Feery 36th in 24 mins 52 secs, Sean O Dea 37th in 25 mins 20 secs, Vincent McHugh 38th in 25 mins 33 secs, Kenny Brett 39th in 25 mins 40 secs, Pat Coffey 41st in 25 mins 50 secs, Niall Brannigan 42nd in 26 mins 30 secs, Ian Patterson 48th in 28 mins 4 secs and Donal Casey 50th in 28 mins 54 secs.

In the Inter Club over 35 event the combination of Paul Minogue, Joey Feery, Eelco Beckers and Vincent McHugh won the silver medals, congrats to Eelco on winning his first County medal, the training is paying off.
