About Clonmel Athletic Club

The present club was formed in 1971 and since then has been promoting Athletics as a way of life for all ages from 7 to 70+ years of age and our club caters for all levels of fitness. The club is very active at all levels, and offers all its members the opportunity to enjoy running along with many other athletic disciplines (e.g. racewalking, long jump, hurdles, high jump, and shot put) at their own pace and level of fitness.

Joining Clonmel Athletic Club offers you many opportunities to enjoy your way of getting fit, as well as the opportunity to work with coaches that are Athletics Ireland accredited. Becoming a member of our club, you are a registered member of Athletics Ireland & this gives you the chance to train with the club regularly, and if you wish to, to compete for the club on club teams at the many levels that are in our sports. For many of our running club members, participating for the club at Championship events while running at your own pace can be a very enjoyable experience, as it’s great to be part of the team’s success.

However you can also decide to be a member of the club and you don’t have to compete for the club at a competitive event. Many of our members are non competitive – from all sectors, juvenile, masters and seniors. This is the beauty of an athletic club, all individual needs can have individual solutions, by working as part of a team.

We are also lucky enough to have a Development Committee who are working tirelessly for the benefit of the club. We’ll keep you posted with upcoming information to give on the future development.

In 2023 the club has seen huge developments, with the big move from our Dr. Pat O Callaghan complex on the Cashel Road, to the Tús Sports Hub on Frank Drohan road in Clonmel (E91 D896). We are so grateful to Clonmel Town soccer club for their hospitality throughout the years. We had some amazing times there and it definitely saw the development of some of the finest athletes in the country. It has been a long road to get to this facility, similar to those seen in sporting facilities the world over, hosting world class events.

We look forward to promoting athletics in the area for many years to come and to welcoming you all to our new home.

2024 is kicking off with some exciting training courses for coaches being held in the TUS Sports Hub pavilion, and it’s fantastic to see so many people interested in learning, and developing.
