The Munster Junior and under 23 track and field Championship took place in very warm conditions in Templemore last Saturday. It was great to see Club members competing at this level. In the Junior women’s 1500m Emma Murray ran very well when finishing 4th in 5 mins 6.09 secs. Then later in the day Gillian Hughes competed in the Junior women’s 800m and she ran very well over the two laps when winning the bronze medal in 2 mins 24.34 secs after having a great tussle for the Silver medal in the last 300m. In the Junior men’s 3k walk Sam O Sullivan produced a very good performance when winning the Gold medal in 15 mins 6.83 secs. In the junior women’s 3k event Grainne O Connor also performed very well when winning the Silver medal
In the women’s under 23 3000m race Ciara O Neill ran a great race when winning the Silver in 10 mins 9.94 secs. This was another great effort by Ciara who can look forward to next week’s Munster Senior Track Championships in Templemore with confidence.
