The Munster Masters race walking Championships took place in Templemore last Saturday in very warm and humid conditions. The race started and soon John got into his rhythm, setting a good pace going through the 1st km in 5 mins 29 secs and reeled off 5 mins 38 secs for the 2nd km. At this stage he was well positioned and he kept that tempo going to win the Munster over 55 title with a very impressive performance clocking 17 mins 14 secs for the 3k distance. This was a marked improvement by John who was setting an impressive PB for this distance and he can look forward with great confidence to the National Championships later in the year.
