Brilliant Club performances in the Annerville 10K

Clonmel AC promoted a very successful Annerville 10k road race today and the Club would like to acknowledge the tremendous work by our members and their friends that ensured that this year’s event was a brilliant success. The Club would also like to acknowledge the help by the Gardai and the Civil Defence in ensuring that the event was a safe one. The Club has been organising this event since 1986 and looking at the 1986 results it is great to see athletes still enjoying the Sport and long may they continue to enjoy it. We had seven athletes who competed today that ran in our first 10k in 1986 and they were Willie O Donoghue Galbally, Myles McHugh Clonmel AC, Tommy Cahill Clonmel AC, Eamon Clonmel AC, Eamon Crowley Clonmel AC, Ned O Brien Clonmel AC, I think it was Ned’s first 10k and he has ran many a one since and Pierce Purcell Clonmel AC.

The warm conditions led to some very good performances none more so than the winner, William Maunsell who put in a very good performance when winning in 31 mins 1 secs and he becomes only the 3rd Club member to win this Classic event, the other two were his old training partner, Niall McCormack 2013 in 33 mins 13 secs and John Fitzgerald 1988 in 30 mins 30 secs.
