This popular race took place in ideal conditions last Saturday night in New Inn. Right from the start Daire O Donnell of DBB AC went to the front as they passed the finishing line with a lap to go. He maintained that strong pace to come home a very worthy and convincing winner in 16 mins 56 secs. Then we had Michael J Ryan of Dundrum AC finishing 2nd in 18 mins 22 secs with Daragh Boland of Clonmel AC 3rd in 18 mins 46 secs. In the women’s race we had a Clonmel AC 1, 2 3 with victory going to Angela McCann in 19 mins 4 secs. Then we had her club mates Muireann Duffy 2nd in 19 mins 6 secs and Ruby Carroll 3rd in 19 mins 28 secs. Alan Casey of Clonmel Ac won the junior men’s award in 20 mins 53 secs. Eimear Heafey of Clonmel AC won the junior women’s award in 22 mins 48 secs. At the presentation of the Awards, Jonathan Doyle presented Daire and Angela with the Mary Doyle Perpetual Cups.
