Stook 10 Mile success for Courtney McGuire

This very popular race took place in summerlike conditions near Gowran last Sunday. Once again, the Club was very well represented. This race saw the welcome return to competition of Courtney McGuire who has been out of action due to injury for the past couple of months. But what a return. Right from the start of the race she was well positioned throughout the race, then as the race entered the final stages, she increased the pace again and kept that strong tempo going to finish in 59 mins 45 secs for what a hilly 10-mile route, fantastic performance to win the woman’s race. Then we had Angela McCann a frequent visitor to this event also putting in a brilliant run when finishing 2nd woman in 62 mins 35 secs. Conor Fleming was another club member who was well up in the chasing pack for the majority of the race and he too will be very pleased with his performance when finishing 7th in 62 mins 42 secs to win the over 50 award. Sean O Dea ran a very good pace run when finishing strongly in 36th place to win the over 55 award in a very good time of 73 mins 46 secs. This quartet of Courtney, Angela, Conor and Sean combined to win the inter Club event and holders of the Liam Kealy Cup for the next 12 months. We also had good performances from Aisling English 41st in 75 mins 12 secs, Kenny Brett 49th in 76 mins 39 secs and Niall Brannigan 62nd in 79 mins 8 secs.

In the 10k race Nicola Maunsell ran very well when finishing 10th in 48 mins.
