Ruby Carroll and Daragh Boland are crowned County Champions

The Juvenile County even age championship took place in Galbally on Sunday on a fantastic course all credit to Mooreabbey Milers. Conditions were perfect for running with sunshine and firm ground. Medals are awarded to the top 10 finishers up to under 14 and top 3 in older age groups.

The day started with the girls under 10 and here we had Aine Horgan leading her team home in 6th place Judie O Donnell in 10th, Saorlaith Ryan 13th and Ciara Moore 42nd. Brilliant running and the team finished 5th. In the boys under 10 race Cathal Egan performed brilliantly to place 3rd, his team mates also ran well with Billy Heaney 15th and Jamie Kennedy 41st. In the girls under 12 our sole competitor Ellie O Donnell ran a great race to place 15th. In the boys under 12 the boys came so close to a medal losing out to Templemore by 1 point. Super runs were had by Dara O Loughlin 5th, Fionn Aird 11th, Ciaran Horgan 21st, Ben Cleary 22nd and Seamus Meegan 30th. In the girls under 14 Clonmel came away with the silver medals in the team with brilliant performances by Eadaoin Duffy 7th, Hannah Murray 10th, Alice Meegan 11th and Lily Casey 13th. In the boys under 14 we had our first County Champion of the day with a convincing win for Darragh Boland who led from start to finish to win the Gold medal in convincing style. Ryan Kennedy was placed 11th in a very strong field. In the girls under 16 race Meabh Meegan ran well to place 5th. In the girls under 18 race we had our second county Champion of the day with a very convincing win for Ruby Carroll. In the final event of the day for the Juveniles, the under 18 boys both Sam O Sullivan and Tadhg Quinn ran very well to place 7th and 8th. Well done to all our competitors for putting on the club colours and representing us. The County uneven age groups take place in Middlepiece just outside Two Mile Borris on Sunday the 9th. Entry deadline is Wednesday evening.
