The Galtee Runners 8K Road race took place last Friday night in wet and mild conditions. Still these conditions didn’t deter Club members and we saw some great performances. Evan Fitzgerald ran a brilliant race when finishing 4th in a quality field in a PB over this route of 26 mins 20 sec and a major improvement on last year’s performance of 26:57. Then we had Angela McCann also running a great race when finishing 2nd woman in 29 mins 13 sec and inside the old record of 29:18, brilliant. Then we had Brian Carroll also running very well when finishing 14th in 29:32, a PB over this route. Then we had Vasiliy Neumerzhitskiy also running well when finishing 43rd in 33:16. Then we had Courtney McGuire also running a great race when finishing 5th woman in a very good time of 33:57, a PB. Michelle Doherty also ran very well when finishing 6th woman in a very good time of 34:43. Nicola Maunsell also ran very well when winning the woman’s over 45 award in a new PB of 35:15. We also had good performances from Ned O Brien 91st in 37:58, Mellissa McCarthy 105th in 39:45, a PB and a major improvement on last year’s run of 40:34, Myles McHugh 162nd in 45:58 and Eamonn Crowley 163rd in 46:11.
