The County Senior and Master Indoors Championships for 2018 took place last Sunday in Nenagh and it was great to see an increase in the number of Club members taking part and supporting these Championships. Competition was good, and it was great to see our members competing well. Joey Feery compete in the Senior 800m and ran well when finishing in 2 mins 25.33 secs. Neil Proven had a great Championship, competing in the over 50, Neil showed his versatility by winning the 400m in 65.37 secs and then the 800m in 2 mins 48.6 secs. He then turned his attention to the Field events and here he recorded a treble win in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.07m, in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.35m and in the Shot Putt with a throw of 8.88m, five Gold Championship performances on his debut in these Championships, brilliant all-round performances from one of our Juvenile Coaches. Then we had John Last competing in the men’s over 55 category and he too had a very good Championships. He showed a quick turn of pace when finishing a close 4th in the 60m sprint with 10.4 secs. He followed that up with a Golden performance in the 400m winning in 71.26 secs. Straight away he went in the 800m and here he won the Bronze medal in 2 mins 56.55 secs. Then we had Hazel Galloway competing in the women’s over 60 winning the 60m in 10.28 secs.
