Clonoulty Rossmore GAA grounds was the setting last Sunday for the County Road relays and despite clashing with the very popular John Treacy 10 Mile it was great to see the Club well represented in both the Women’s and Men’s races. The relay event consisted of 800m, 1500m, 800m and the final leg of 3000m. In the women’s race our team of Gillian Hughes, Cailin Napier, Siobhan Whelan and Courtney McGuire put on a brilliant display of front running to come home very worthy and convincing Champions in a very good time of 22 mins 3 secs. This was a brilliant all-round team effort and great to see such young talent in the Club, it augurs well for the future as these athletes make the transition to the Senior ranks in the next couple of years. In the Men’s race our team of Conor Flaherty, Jonny Tobin, Pat O Connor and Anthony Bowen ran very well when winning the Gold medals in the B Section.
