Conor Ryan wins 4k

The 3rd race of the O Reilly Total Pharmacy sponsored 4k series took place last night in very demanding conditions but mild. We are very grateful to Barry Horgan for generously sponsoring this year’s series of races. We are also very grateful to the Brothers of Charity for the use of their carpark as Race headquarters. The Club would like to thank the Red Cross for First Aid cover. Thanks also to our many stewards who brave the elements last night to ensure that the whole event was well marshalled and organised, such help is very much appreciated by everyone.

To date we have had 154 athletes and stewards taking part with 33 of them competing in 3 of the races so far with another 51 of them in 2 of the races and well on their way to receiving a specially designed Umbrella for any athlete that competes in three out of the first four races of this year’s series.

The Race format tonight was Lucky Dip with prizes awarded to athletes who finished in pre-selected finishing positions and tonight’s Lucky winners were: Justin Walsh 27th in 17 mins 54 secs, Liam Keane 34th in 18 mins 57 secs, Mary Cashman 54th in 22 mins 1 secs and Eamonn Crowley 63rd in 25 mins 33 secs. Last night, Barry Horgan once again sponsored a very generous Hamper and after the race we picked a Race Number from a box with all the finishers Race Numbers and the lucky winner was Kenny Brett.

Last nights race was won by Conor Ryan in 14 mins 46 secs with Patrick Roche 2nd in 14 mins 47 secs and Louis Rice 3rd in 15 mins 17 secs. The top three women were Ann Marie Boland 20th in 16 mins 45 secs, Ali O Connor 21st in 17 mins 2 secs and Elaine Horgan 22nd in 17 mins 13 secs.

Also. last night it was brilliant to see Claire Annan participating and well on her way to full recovery after her accident during the summer.

Please note that our 4k on the 28th November will be for the Emma Lacey Trust and all monies donated that night will go to this very worthy cause, so let’s spread the word and get as many people as possible to come along and participate.
