Club teams wins Bronze medals

The County Novice Cross Country Championships took place last Sunday near the Turnpike on a good day for running, conditions were good. In the Women’s race despite a few late withdrawals we had some great performances. Michelle Doherty put in a great run when finishing strongly in 7th place. Then we had Mercedes Conjero Martinez, who was making her Club debut and her first taste of Cross Country also running very well when finishing 10th. Anne Marie Boland also put in a great performance when finishing 11th and these three athletes combined very well to win the inter Club bronze medals. We also had good performances from Marian Flaherty 18th and Sareen Walsh 20th, great to have Sareen back running well again for the club.

In the Men’s race the Club was very well represented and again we had some very good performances. Paul Minogue was another athlete having his first taste of Cross Country and he took to it very well. Indeed, he set the pace for the majority of the distance only to be edged out of the medals over the closing stages when finishing 5th. This was a brilliant run by Paul who will have learned a lot from this experience. Then we had Joey Feery also running very well when finishing 7th. Then we had Conor Ryan, another athlete having his first taste of Cross Country and he too put in a brilliant run when finishing 10th and like Paul he too will have learnt a lot from this experience. Then we had Dermot Logue, making a welcome return to Cross Country and he too ran very well when finishing 15th. This quartet combined very well to win the Inter Club Bronze medals in what was a very competitive race. We also had good performances from Paudie O Keeffe 23rd, Alan Carter 36th, Niall O Ceallaigh 42nd, Pat O Connor 45th, Donal Ryan 48th, Aidan Cremin 49th, James O Brien 56th, Neil Proven 57th, John Laste 59th and Donie Casey 62nd.
