Clonmel Juvenile Athletic Club Notes 18th September

Juvenile Athletics

The Club is now back training at the Dr Pat O Callaghan Sports Complex, Cashel Road, Clonmel  every Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5.45 to 6.45pm for 7 to 12 year old athletes and 6.30 to 7.30pm for athletes age 13 and over. All our sessions are supervised by qualified Coaches and new members are always welcome.

Cross Country season

The Cross Country season gets underway on Sunday 2nd October at Turnpike, Two Mile Borris at 12 noon with the juvenile Even age groups followed immediately by the County Women’s 4k and Men’s 6k Cross Country Championships.

Boys under 12 win Gold medals

The Cross Country season got underway today in sunny Kilmacow where the annual St Senan’s Open Cross Country competition took place. For some of our athletes it was their first taste of Cross Country and by all accounts they are performed very well. In the Girls under 8 race our team of Sarah O Reilly, Sarah Whelan, Isobel Fitzgerald and Cassis Fox ran very well to win medals. In the boys under 8 Darragh Boland ran very well to win a medal when finishing 5th. In the boys under 9 Fred Perry ran very well when winning the Silver medal while Darragh O Gorman also ran well when 13th. In the Boys under 10 we had good performances from Louis Carroll, Max Fitzgerald, Killian Whelan, Matthew Downey and Jack o Connor. In the Girls under 12 Ruby Carroll ran well when finishing 9th. In the Boys under 10 ran our team won the Gold medals with some great performances like Odhran McGrath 3rd, Michael Ahearne 8th, Cian Flaherty 9th, Conor O Gorman 12th, Michael O Reilly 28th and Cathal O Gorman 29th. In the Girls under 14 Abigail Fox ran well while in the Girls under 16 we also had good performances from Molly Keane 15th and Elam Casey 17th.

The County Championships gets underway next Sunday at the Turnpike with the first race getting underway at 12 noon.
