Brilliant performances at Munster Track and Field Championships

The Munster A outdoor session came to a close on Sunday last and the club had 10 athletes compete over the 3-day event. In the girls u13 we had Aoife Carmody and Meabh Meegan both competing in their first Walks and they both walked brilliantly to take 3rd and 4th place respectively.
In the boys u14 1500m we had Cathal O Gorman who ran a very good race to place 7th and Conor O’Gorman who was just outside the medals in 4th in a high class field and by virtue of his 4th place finish now progresses to the National Championships in Tullamore.

In the boys u15 Conor O Loughlin ran very well to place 8th in the 800m and Sam O Sullivan on the back of his National Schools Title has now added his AAI Munster Walk Title. In the girls u16 walk Grainne O’Connor walked brilliantly to take the Silver medal. In the girls u17 Siobhan Whelan our stalwart of Munster running medalled in both the 1500m and 3000m finishing 2nd and 3rd.

In the girls u19 Cailin Napier had a great race to take the silver medal in the 800m and Lorcan O Keeffe also ran very well in the boys u19 1500m to place 4th and again will progress to the National Championships. In total the club won 7 provincial medals and 6 of our athletes will go forward to compete for Club at National level.

Clonmel AC would like to thank the athletes, the parents and coaches for their continued support.
