Berlin Marathon

This was an historic event as a new world record was set by Eliud Kipchoge when running a spectacular time of 2 hours 1 min and 39 secs and will be talked about in years to come as one of the most outstanding athletic achievements. The Club is delighted to say that we have three Club members who can safely say “ Yes I was in that race in Berlin in 2018 when the 2 hours 2 mins barrier was broken by Eliud Kipchoge”. They were Pat Walsh who despite the very warm conditions ran very well when finishing in 3 hours 46 mins 10 secs, having gone through 10k in 53:51, 20k in 1:47:08 and 30K in 2:40:11. John Laste will also be pleased with his performance when finishing in 3 hours 57 mins 36 secs and went through 10k in 56:36, 20k in 1:51:16 and 30k in 2:48:58.

Jacqui Walsh also ran very well in such conditions when achieving a Personal Best of over 4 minutes when finishing in 4 hours 50 mins 10 secs having gone trough 10k in 68:26, 20k in 2:17:19 and 30k in 3:27:02, brilliant performances all round and great to be part of such an historic event.
