Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships

The Munster indoor u12 to u19 indoor championship took place in Nenagh on Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24th and Clonmel Ac was well represented. The first 4th placings earn the right to compete at National level.

Saturday saw both our walkers compete and both made the podium with Sam O Sullivan retaining his Munster Title and Grainne O Connor placing 2nd in the 1.5k walks.
In the boys u13 Matthew Downey put in a great run in the 600m to finish 5th in the heat. In the boys u14 we had Conor O’Gorman finish 4th overall when winning his heat only missing out on a medal by a fraction of a second. His position qualifies him for the National indoors later in the year. Also running in the 600m was Cian Flaherty, Cathal O Gorman, Michael O Reilly and Matthew Buckley who all put in fine performances.
Cian and Michael also jumped PB’s in the long jump and Matthew placed 7th in the Shot Putt having moved up to the bigger weight of 2.72kg.
In the girls u15 we had Hazel Brennan who placed 5th in the 800m. In the boys u15 Thomas Smith on his debut at indoors placed a very credible 8th in the 800m.
In the boys u16 we had Conor Flaherty who finished in 9th place in the 800m but came home with the 4th fastest time in the 1500m and he too goes forward to the nationals.
