County titles for David Ryan, Myles McHugh and Eileen Hynes

The Club hosted the County Masters 6K Road Championships last Sunday in ideal conditions. It was brilliant to see a great entry from the Club and better still it was great to see some impressive performances throughout the race, all the recent runs over this circuit in the Morrison BMW 6k series, paid off very well.

David Ryan ran a great race when winning the over 45 County title in 20:16, having been in the leading group for most of the race. Then we had Dermot Logue also running very well when winning the over 40 Silver medal in 21:32 with Nigel O Flaherty winning the Bronze medal in 22:09 and these three athletes along with Lar Martin (23:02) won the Inter Club over 35 Silver medals. Conor Fleming, ran very well when finishing in 22:42 and along with John Walsh 23:11 and Corneilius McFadden 23:57 won the over 50 Inter Club Bronze medals. We also had impressive performances form Niall O Ceallaigh (24:05), James Denn (24:12), Donal Ryan (24:47), Sean McCarthy (24:48), Anthony Power also ran well when winning the over 55 Bronze medal in (25:16), Tom Bourke (25:23), Vincent McHugh (25:29), Jim St John also ran very well when winning the over 60 County title in 25:41, Alan Carter (26:05), Alan O Shea (26:07) Sean O Dea (26:22), Kenny Brett (26:25), James O Brien (26:56), John Laste (27:14), Donal Casey (28:15), Ned O Brien (28:34), Grzegorz Kecik (28:35), John Casey (33:15), Myles McHugh also ran very well when winning the over 70 Silver medal in 34:37 and Eamonn Crowley winning the over 65 Silver medal in 35:13.

The women also ran very well with Aine Roche making her debut in these Championships a very good one when winning the over 35 Silver medal in 24:09. Then we had Ailish Mansfield also running in these Championships for the first time winning the over 35 Bronze medal in 24:48. Suzanne Shine also ran very well when winning the over 40 Silver medal in 25 mins and she teamed up with Aine and Ailish to win the Inter Club over 35 title and gold medals. Anne Marie Halpin also making her debut in these Championships ran very well when finishing in 25:50 and then we had Elaine Horgan also making her debut in these Championship running well when finishing in 25:56 and with Edel Roche another Championship debutant finishing in 26:50, these three debutants captured the Inter Club over 35 Bronze medals, brilliant introduction to Championship experience. Then we had Nicola Maunsell running very well when winning the over 45 Silver in 27:45 and with Anne Byrne winning the over 50 Silver medal in 28:37 and Julie Tideswell the over 50 Bronze medal in 29:59, they combined very well to win the over 45 Inter Club Cup and Gold medals. We also had impressive performances from Marian Flaherty (28:21), Eileen Hynes in winning the over 55 County title in 30:25 and Donna Nagle making a welcome return to Championship running finishing in 32:54, Impressive running all round. The Club Chairman, Conor Fleming thanked all our stewards for ensuring that the whole event was well organised, to Colaiste Cheitinn for the use of their fine facilities as Race Headquarters and to the Civil Defence for First Aid and the Garda for their assistance.
