County titles for Carter, Hynes and McHugh

The County Master 6k Road Championships were promoted by the Club in ideal conditions last Sunday, due to the re fixture of this event clashing with other open road races we had a very low entry from Club members. However, well done to all our Club members who competed. Paul Minogue ran a great race when winning the Men’s over 35 Silver medal in 20 mins 33 secs when finishing 2nd overall. Alan Carter was another athlete to run well when finishing 16th in 24 mins 19 secs to win the over 40 Gold medal. Then we had John Walsh also running well over a familiar route when winning the Men’s over 50 Bronze Medal in 24 mins 32 secs. Pat Coffey ran well when finishing 19th in 25 mins 7 secs. Tom Quinn ran very well to win the over 65 Bronze medal in 27 mins 49 secs with Ned O Brien winning the Men’s over 60 Bronze medal in 28 mins 17 secs. Noel Howley ran very well when winning the men’s over 70 Silver medal in 29 mins 12 secs. Eileen Hynes our sole female athlete also ran very well when winning the women’s over 55 Gold medal in 30 mins 21 secs. Eamonn Crowley ran very well when finishing in 35 mins 1 sec. Then we had the evergreen Myles McHugh running very well to win the Men’s over 75 title in a very good time of 35 mins 27 secs. Our Masters over 50 team of John Walsh, pat Coffey and Ned O Brien won the inter Club bronze medals. The Club promoted a very successful event and it would like to thank Tess Kiely for all her help in Colaiste Cheitinn, the race headquarters, the Civil Defence for covering the first Aid, to our stewards who ensured that the whole event was well marshalled and our catering team of Nora and Margaret for providing the Post race refreshments.
