The Irish Universities Cross Country Championships took place today at the DCU complex in Glasnevin. Ciara O Neill running for UL put in a brilliant performance when finishing 1st under 23 and 2nd Senior in a time of 20 mins 21 secs over the 6k course. The race started and soon a group of six athletes dictated the steady pace. Then mid-way through the race Ciara went to the front and increased the pace that soon had the leading group down to two. She maintained that strong effort and battled all the way to the line, brilliant running and a great start to her Cross-Country season. Also competing in this event was Moya Whelan for TCD and she too will be pleased with her performance when finishing 19th in 23 mins 13 secs. Ciara also had the distinction of leading her college to win the silver medals.
