National 10K Road Race Championships, Dunboyne

One of the coaches on the senior side of our club, Seán Tobin, is no stranger to members who attend training to avail of his expertise and guidance. Whilst his expert coaching is much appreciated by all, it is when he laces up his racing shoes that he really shows his worth.

We saw him in action locally when he was the joint winner of the Kilsheelan 10 mile, with his training partner, William Maunsell. For the National 10K road race he had to travel a little further afield, to Dunboyne Co. Meath. Immersed as he is in a mileage heavy training block as he prepares for the London marathon, this was a good opportunity to assess how his training was progressing and also focus on sharpening speed while competing for a national title. And compete he did, when picking up the race win and a national Gold medal. We are all delighted to see Seán back running so well and wish him well in his preparations.
