Anne Marie Halpin wins Medieval Women’s 30k Title

This event was also part of the Medieval Festival of races and here we had Anne Marie Halpin running the proverbial blinder to win her first major award with a fantastic performance. She started off at a steady pace as she worked her way into the event. Then at around 5 miles she increased the pace and was running with a good group and moved into 2nd place after 9 miles. At this stage she was averaging 7.30-mile pace and soon after moved into the lead, a lead she held all the way to the line to record an impressive victory to win in 2 hours 22 mins 42 secs when finishing 15th overall, brilliant.  We also had good performances from John Griffin 17th in 2 hours 23 mins 29 secs, Anna Byrne who also ran very well when finishing 3rd woman in 2 hours 28 mins 45 secs, Brendan Coffey 53rd in 2 hours 38 mins 52 secs and Nicole O Gorman 90th in 2 hours 54 mins 4 secs,
