Angela McCann wins Tipperary Mini Marathon

In association with the Tipperary Sports Partnership, the Club promoted a very successful Tipperary Mini Marathon with over 700 athletes competing. It was great to see Club members running very well as many of them were using this event to sharpen up for the upcoming Dublin City Marathon while others were making their debut over this Classic distance.

Angela McCann ran a fantastic race. Right from the start she was in the leading group and at around 2k she went to the front and increased the pace that soon had the field in Indian file. She maintained this strong pace all the way down to Ferryhouse and was still leading as they turned for home. Despite a strong challenge from Sharon Cleere, Angela kept the tempo going and maintained a slight lead all the way to the line to win in 37 mins 52 secs, brilliant running and her first time winning this prestigious event. Then we had Kealey Tideswell another of our Club members heading to the DCM and she ran well when finishing 6th in 40:11. Courtney McGuire ran a brilliant race when finishing 7th in 41 mins 18 secs on her way to a massive PB over this Classic distance, improving on her 45 mins 8 secs last May in the Tipperary Water 10k over the same route, brilliant running. Edel Roche also ran a brilliant race when finishing 11th in 43 mins 33 secs, a massive improvement on her 2018 run of 45:37 over this course and distance. Nicola Maunsell is running very well at the moment as she prepares for the Dublin Marathon and her training is going very well as she posted new figures for this course and distance when finishing 15th in 44 mins 12 secs, a massive improvement on her 2018 run over this course of 45:39. Aisling English also ran a brilliant race when finishing 21st in 45 mins 24 secs on her way to a new PB over this route and distance by improving on her run of 46:47 last May. Michelle Doherty also ran very well when finishing 22nd in 45:30. Cailin Napier is another Club athlete running very well at the moment, making her debut over this Classic distance and course she was impressive when finishing 24th in 46:26. Sareen Walsh tackling this distance for the first time in quite  a while ran very well when finishing 26th in 46 mins 46 secs. Grainne O Malley also ran very well when finishing 30th in 47 mins 36 secs. Denise Donnelly also ran very well when finishing 32nd in 49 mins 21 secs, a massive improvement on her run last May of 53:58, a new PB. Mellissa McCarthy also ran a brilliant race when finishing 33rd in 49 mins 30 secs on her way to a new PB over this course and distance when improving on her run of last May of 51:51. Emma Ryan also ran very well when finishing 37th in 49 mins 54 secs. Helen Linnane is another Club member who is running very well at the moment and she posted impressive new figures for this Classic distance when finishing 39th in 50 mins 10 secs, a massive improvement on her run last May of 54:32. Bernie Hopkins is another Club member who is running very well at the moment and she ran well when finishing 44th in 51 mins 51 secs, improving greatly on her run over this course and distance last May of 53:58. Lizzie Ryan is another Club member who ran very well on her way to a new PB of 53 mins 5 secs when finishing 57th.

We also had impressive performances from Julie Tideswell 63rd in 53:43, Helen O Ceallaigh 68th in 54:32, Silvia McGee 88th in 55:58, Monica Lambe 93rd in 56:42, Susan Moore making her Club debut also ran very well when finishing 120th in 58:55, Joyce Cullinane 122nd in 59:23, Gillian Prendergast 131st in 59:35, Donna Nagle who was the 60 minute pacer timed it very well when finishing 137th in 59 mins 42 secs, great judge of pacing as she helped many athletes get in under the 60 minute barrier, Georgine Gilligan 248th in 66:37, Emma Norris 251st in 66:52, Sarah Kearney, another Club member making her debut over this Classic distance ran very well when finishing 269th in 68:50, Jackie Hickey 287th in 70:06, Carol Dowling 300th in 71:04, Dee O Connor 316th in 72:43, Majella Quinlivan 353rd in 77:35, Anne Gaughran 389th in 81:32, Sinead McSweeney 390th in 81:34, Jacqui Turvey 457th in 89:28, Susan Laste 497th in 93:35 and Natalia Fedorova 669th in 105 mins.
