All Ireland Schools Bronze medal for Sam O Sullivan

The Irish Life Health Irish Schools Track and Field Championships were held in Tullamore last weekend. These Championships are the most competitive Juveniles Championships in the year as athletes from all four corners of the country are representing their schools. The Club had four athletes competing and it was great to see them all perform so well.   In the Junior Girls race walking Ivy Rhatigan representing CTI Clonmel was placed 7th in a great time of 6 mins 42 secs. Sam O Sullivan in the senior boys 3km race walking event representing Rockwell College put in a brilliant performance when winning the bronze medal in a time of 13 mins 51 secs. Sam will take solace knowing that he has 2 more years in this age group.

The final race of the day for Clonmel AC athletes was the senior ladies 1500m. Here we had two club members, Muireann Duffy representing Loreto Convent Clonmel and Emma Murray representing Presentation Ballingarry competing. In a very competitive race both athletes put in two great performances, with Muireann finishing 6th in 4 mins 52 secs and Emma hot on her heels 7th in 4 mins 56 secs.
