Sunday last saw Clonmel Athletic Club travel to the first Cross Country Event of the season in Kilmacow, Co. Kilkenny a now much favoured spot to get the legs ready for the long winter. It was anything but winter conditions as the sun shine made it more like a fine July open sports than a September Cross Country Event. Clonmel had no fewer than 27 young athletes competing on the day some for the first time. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dublin Half Marathon took place in ideal conditions last weekend and it was great to see the Club very well represented. Vasiliy Neumerzhitskily was once prominent throughout the race, which was very competitive. He ran very well when finishing 21st in 75 mins 43 secs when finishing 4th 0/40. Then we had Kealey Tideswell running a brilliant race when finishing 164th in 84 mins 59 secs which is possibly a PB for Kealey over this distance. Hot on her heels was Angela McCann who ran very well when finishing 168th in 85 mins 12 secs, which also saw her finishing 2nd 0/35. Eoin McGrath ran well when finishing 257th in 87 mins 24 secs. Pat Coffey also ran well when finishing 372nd in 90 mins 10 secs. Other athletes that competed well included Tommy Cahill 370th in 90 mins 18 secs, Gary Grant 522nd in 92 mins 35 secs, Niall McCarthy 739th in 96 mins 27 secs, Frank Fahey 859th in 98 mins 4 secs, Frank Lynch 1440th in 102 mins 57 secs and Brendan Coffey 1442nd in 103 mins 18 secs.

We are once again organising an 8 race series over the usual course, please find poster attached and again let us all spread the word on this series of races.
Last year we got a tremendous response from Club members to help out, this year we are asking for a similar response, we will need at least 5 people to run the race each night and the early indications are that numbers will be well up on last year so we may need more help. Please find the roster attached or just send me an email outlining what night(s) you are willing to help.
