This very popular sporting event takes place this Sunday, 13th May, in Clonmel at 2pm. The entry fee is 10 Euros. Entries will be taken at the Clonmel Vocational School, the Mall from 10 am onwards and the first 300 entrants will receive a specially designed T Shirt. the race details and directions
The Club intends to organise a 8K road run as a build up to the Annerville 10k on Wednesday night, 2nd May at 7pm. This will be a fun run with the sole aim of helping people who may be running the Annerville 10K for the first time this year on Sunday 13th May. We will have pace setters for 7 minute mile pace, 8 min mile pace, 9 min mile pace, 10 min mile pace and 11 min mile pace. Here the Club will be asking its Senior members to help as the pace setters. Two Mile Borris was the venue last Sunday for the County Ladies 5k and Men’s 10K road Championships.
This popular event took place last Friday night. Angela McCann once again ran a brilliant race when winning in 36 mins 44 secs when finishing 16th overall. We also saw Larry Martin running very well when finishing 17th in 36:46 which is close to his PB for this course. Other athletes that performed well included Nigel O Flaherty 37th 39:04, Sean McCarthy 49th 40:29. Brian Carroll 77th 42:59, Brendan Coffey 80th 43:06, Gary Grant 81st 43:07, Maurice Boland 103rd 45:10, Joe Grinsell 127th 47:31, improving on last year’s performances by 9 secs and Ollie Magee 200th 69:49.
Race three of the Morrison BMW 6k road race took place tonight in good running conditions where the rain stayed away and the race attracted 254 athletes. There was some great performances and many athletes went very close to matching their predicted times, showing that they are now able to pace themselves over 6k. So again well done to all the team Captains for making sure that their team were well represented. Well done to the Gardai for once again doing fabulous work and ensuring the safety of all the participants throughout the race. The Club would also like to thank the Civil Defence for all their help in First Aid and marshalling the course. Thanks also to the many stewards for all their hard work, such help is always appreciated.
Nest Wednesday night the Presentation of Prizes will take place in the Posthouse, Gladstone Street from 9pm onwards where food will be served at 9pm and the Presentation will take place immediately afterwards.
The race next week is the handicap race and the Clock will start at 51 minutes at 6.50pm – note early start time and the clock will count down to zero seconds with the winner being the athlete(s) who crosses the finishing line AFTER the clock hits Zero seconds. Again athletes can’t wear watches or IPODs. Athletes are asked to come along to the Vocational School, like tonight to collect their numbers and register their predicted times. It is up to each athlete to be ready to go off when the clock hits their predicted time. The Clock will start at 51 minutes and the first athlete will go off at 6.50pm - so please note the early start. Tonight we had another record entry with 267 athletes competing on what was a good night for racing as the rain stayed away. Once again the Club would like to thank all the team captains for ensuring that their teams were well represented and we saw some great performances. The 1st 3 men were David Shelly Brehon Sport – 21 mins 28 secs, 2nd Andrew Smyth Kilcooley Pottery 21 mins 38 secs and 3rd Tommy Falconer Formula 5 – 21 mins 46 secs. The 1st 3 Ladies were Angela McCann – Boston Scientific – 21 mins 48 secs, 2nd Clare Annan – Formula 5 23 misn 25 secs and 3rd Kate Wall – Browne’s School of Motoring 23 mins 58 secs.
Looking down through all 6 Divisions there are many teams still in with a chance of finishing in the top three in their Divisions and a chance of winning. So team Captains it is imperative that you get all your team members out again next week as all the prizes will be decided on the final night as each team must ensure that they have at least three athletes competing.
Then on April 25th we will have the Handicap race where the Clock will start at 48 mins and count down to zero seconds and each athlete can decide at what time to go off at. The winner(s) will be the athlete(s) that crosses the finishing line after the Clock hits ZERO SECONDS. In this race athletes can’t wear watches or IPODs.
The Presentation of Prizes will take place in the Post House, Gladstone Street at 9pm on April 25th, please note change of venue.

The Kilnaboy 10 Mile road race took place last Sunday with 193 athletes competing. Angela McCann underlined her great form over any distance as she ran a brilliant race over a demanding course to win the Ladies race in 60 mins 16 secs when 19th overall. This was great running by Angela as she set her sights on the Cork City marathon in June. We also had good performances from Ned O Brien who was 113th in 76 mins 30 secs and Niall McCarthy who was 137th in 80 mins 4 secs.
Dundrum was the setting for the County Intermediate Road Championships held in good conditions last Sunday. It was great to see the Club so well represented. county-intermediate-race-report
